The project is an experiment in re-creating a not so far-fetched vision of the future - imagining the post climate change existence after the sea levels rise and the global economy collapses.
Running for several months, the project comprises of a number of activities. Inside the geodesic dome, a series of workshops will teach visitors the post future survival skills they will need - such as creating a compost toilet, building a fire, milling four and baking bread.
Outside of these workshops, a series of caretakers such as Des and I will occupy the dome, keeping ourselves warm and fed through chopping wood, taking care of chickens and generally adding to the structure.
Generally I am very much looking forward to this simpler existence. To be really honest, I'm hoping that it will provide a much needed period of relaxation and reflection after the past few months, which have been very challenging.
I'm also hoping that getting a taste of living a simpler life will confirm some of my own concerns about the complexity and wastefulness of my current mode of living. Who knows, maybe we will want to go and live in a dome of our own!
Whilst we are there Des is also hoping to write a substantial piece of music which will be performed (location TBC) later this year. I am hoping to record my experiences through writing - the form of which is yet to be determined.
Whether it is poetry or prose, I will certainly be sharing this on the blog upon my return, along with my other thoughts on our week.
So for now, goodbye. Wish us good luck!
